Recently manufactured steel, which is still in the form of a metal bar or rectangle, is called steel billet. The steel billet (also called ingot) can be round or square and there is a great demand for this material in a number of segments.
The AVB steel billet is a product obtained from the LD Melt Shop process, which transforms pig iron along with a low percentage of reusable scrap. It can be sold in its raw state, which is used in the production of forged parts or rolling of sections and bars.
With the quality structure of AVB’s LD Melt Shop (use of liquid pig iron and jet protection in the casting process), AVB can compete with Latin America’s leading suppliers of steel billet with this higher added value steels, thus meeting the needs of a wider range of customers.
